Admission Arrangements

The Head Teacher will be pleased to discuss admissions arrangements and to host a visit from parents interested in applying to the school for a place for their child.

The school has no catchment area. Admission is by application and children attend from all areas of the town of Leighton Buzzard and its local villages. The school can accommodate a maximum of 30 pupils in each of its 5 year groups.

Each academic year in September the School Governing Board admits up to 30 children to the school’s Reception Class. To be considered for admission, pupils must have their 5th birthday between 1st September and 31st August of the following year. This is a once a year entry, initially part-time, becoming fulltime for at least one term before the end of the academic year. Applications for places will be accepted at any time for older children, up to the age of nine years. Admission will be on the basis of places being available in the relevant year group.

To apply for a place, first collect an application form from school from July onwards in the year before admission. The completed form should be sent to the LEA at County Hall, who administer the admissions process. You will then receive a letter from the LEA in December telling you what school you have been allocated to. If the school is over-subscribed then we keep a waiting-list, and more places often become available later in the year.

        Pulford Admissions Policy

It’s not too late!

If your child is due to start school in September, it’s not too late to apply for a place and enrol them into the Pulford Family. Even though the admissions process has begun, it’s still not too late to apply for a place. All you need to do is telephone County Hall on 01234 228140.

Perhaps you had the idea that it’s very hard to get a place at Pulford and so didn’t apply – but it’s not true and almost everyone who applies gets a place in the end. Last year, for example, only a couple of people ended up disappointed. Anyway, we keep a waiting list and can often offer you a place if someone leaves the area.

If there is anything we can do to help, if you would like to arrange a visit, or if there is any more information we can give you, then please phone us at school on 01525 372188.
